Non-electric razors

There are a few things to look for when choosing a non-electric razor:

Disposable or replaceable cartridges. Spend the money and get a cartridge razor.
Number of blades (1-3) For many, more means closer and less irritation.
Lubricating strips. Most cartridge razors have this and can help reduce irritation
Pivoting head. Most cartridge razors have this. For many, this means a closer shave and less irritation.
Material used in blades. Not as important
Thickness of blades. Not as important

The three most frequently- recommended razors are:

Gillette’s Sensor Excel
Schick’s Silk Effects for women/Protector for men
Gillette’s Mach 3 for men/Venus for women
