Allen Adams from Edge news has a nice piece on hair removal options for men, nicknamed “manscaping.”

Now, I’m not saying that you gentlemen out there have to lose all your body hair; it’s actually a fairly selective process. For instance, the consensus seems to be that leg hair is just fine. Also, chest hair as a rule doesn’t seem to be too big a deal, provided its presence isn’t too overwhelming. No, the big one seems to be back hair. No matter how much or how little you have, back hair is rather unsettling and unattractive.

Colorado hair removal business relocates

 

In Brush, Colorado, Dr. Thomas Bryant, M.D. and Dr. Lawrence Schoelkopf, M.D. of Surgical Associates of Morgan County had an open house at their new East Morgan County Hospital location. They recently relocated from Fort Morgan’s Colorado Plains Medical Center and welcomed community members to stop in to enjoy refreshments while taking advantage of the chance to consult personally with the surgeons on the topics of colonoscopies, varicose vein treatment and laser hair removal.

Home-use lasers: will Silk’n be the holiday winner?

Lisa Stanfield at makemeheal.com has a good article on home-use lasers:In November this year, Good Morning America’s Becky Worley put the two devices to the test and used Silk’n on one leg and TRIA on the other for two and a half months. The results showed that Silk’n worked remarkably better than TRIA, which takes longer to deliver results.

New Zealand: We can’t restrict laser/IPL use by beauty therapists

The New Zealand Ministry of Health says it cannot restrict hair removal and other cosmetic procedures by beauty therapists. They are not covered by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act and the machines they use are not defined as medical devices by its Medsafe division. The announcement came after a therapist who treated the woman with electrical light optical synergy (ELOS) had breached the code of patients’ rights on standard of care and informed consent. The patient being treated for acne scars ended up with worse damage on her face. IPL can be used to remove hair, thread veins and pigmented lesions such as freckles and some birthmarks.

Program in Rio offers free hair removal for poor

Brazilian plastic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy launched an initiative through the Brazilian Society of Cosmetic Surgery (SBME) to offer hair removal to low-income residents of Rio De Janeiro, performed by students in training. Since the program’s beginning in 1998, nearly 17,000 people have used the service. Critics say the poor people are being used as guinea pigs, a charge denied by the physicians.

Chicago local news segment on hair removal

Looks as if Mexico-based  Genomma Lab wants to make it very clear they divested all  Neoskin and DepilitÊ shares:

[Genomma] announced today that it owns no shares in the laser hair removal chain “Neoskin,” which has recently been the subject of negative news reports. Furthermore, Genomma reiterates that in March 2008, it divested all its shares of Global Administrator, S.A. de C.V., the firm which independently operates various companies, including the stores that offer laser hair removal services under the brand “Depilite.”
